Boiler Finance

How to pay for a boiler

If the time has come for you to get a new boiler, you may be put off by the costs. A boiler is an expensive item. With numerous moving parts and mechanisms, there is a lot that goes into the construction of a boiler. On the other hand, they do last a long time, so getting one is not only an essential but an investment also. Boilers make sure you have hot water and central heating. Making it un-negotiable as if you need a new one or not. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to make sure you get heating for your home, with several payment methods and plans including boiler finance on offer from most retailers.

Pay upfront

We have already established that boilers are rarely cheap. But if you’ve been saving that rainy day fund up, or have the funds available to you, the natural choice is to buy the boiler upfront. The cheapest boiler will still retail for over £500, making them costly to buy, but you will also often be paying for installation and initial servicing, and of course, they can last for up to (and sometimes over) a decade.

Boiler Finance

Most places will also offer a good financing option so that you can split the payments up into more manageable monthly instalments. Whilst this is prevalent on very expensive boilers such as Viessman and Worcester, you can also get financing on any boiler of your choice, and means you can still get hearting in your home, without breaking the bank.

For Free with the Eco Scheme

In rare circumstances, you could be eligible to get your boiler for free. The Affordable Warmth Obligation was established by the U.K. government in 2013 to ensure everyone had the right to access a boiler for heating. This normally applies to those claiming benefits and are living in private housing, or you live in social housing. The eco scheme means that everyone has the right to affordable heating and can live in comfort regardless of their economical situation.
